The-good-old-MSAMU-Committee

After much effort and sacrifice from I-Chen as the president of MSAMU, her term came to an end as she is going to graduate! I was not here during the previous semesters but I heard from many people, I-Chen was the superwoman that make MSAMU a more active society.

So, on behalf of MSAMU, Thank you very very much!

International Day Spring 09

Hi people!! If you're reading this, say "MSAMU damn cool la"

I, david lin, just got a new job of reviving this blog after being dead for so long.
Hope you guys don't mind me using Manglish :D "Malaysians damn cool laa.."

Alright, back to the main story,
Marquette University International Day

Although I wasn't here last year, I guess everything went well this year.

The day started with something like an international exhibiton. Pakai cantik-cantik, jualan kuih-muih, makan-makan dan ada juga barang-barang yang melambangkan negara masing masing (Translation: Wear nice nice, sell food, eat eat and items that represent each respective countries)

So, what did MSAMU did? First of all, we set up a booth with Malaysian flag, some craft, etc... and of course FOOD. We had Satay (1.50$/stick), ABC ($1), free sample of tapioca cake and air bandung (forgive me if i get these names wrong) and the-banana-desert-thingy.

(note: credits to the photographers, NurulHuda, Ia Cha, Amir) If anyone has more pics, do send it in or just upload to facebook and notify me.

I think the most outstanding group was them (after us of course)

Next event of the day was "Culture Shock". There were culture dances, instrumental performances, etc...

Malaysia team, ehhmmm.. ehmmm.. proudly presented the "Dikir Barat Dance". Personally, I think it was awesome performance despite the number of people we had and only few practices.

Barisan pemuda-pemudi yang hensem dan cantik
*penuh dengan semangat yang berkobar-kobar*

Fall 2008

Hello!

I know there's been an absolute lack of updates, people... My excuses: (1) really busy this semester, and (2) am a terrible person. Sorry! =(

Here are pics and some short short details on some of our gatherings this semester...

Some of us participated in this semester's Al's Run... I believe someone has pics of this somewhere... so if you do, send them to me(shuwei.loo@gmail.com)!

We also joined the Indonesian students in sponsoring one of the Muslim Students' Association's Ramadan dinners this semester, at the OIE... Again, if anyone has pictures, send them over =). A couple of the things we prepared were nasi lemak and kuah lodeh... cooked by Farhana!

We had a little cosy gathering at Sara, Fazlina and Farhana's apartment for Hari Raya... some pics (courtesy of Farhana's Facebook album):

Group picture. Siew Ann came down for a little holiday!

This looks so... formal family photo-ish

Edmund likes food.

Edmund likes food a lot. I like to tease Edmund. =D

Former roommates!

Our hostesses!

I-Chen, Jannah and Siew Ann cooked kuah kacang

We did a Malaysian Dessert Night later in the semester... And had a pretty good turnout, so, yay =).

(The pics below don't show up fully on the blog - only half of each pic shows... can't figure out why =(. If you want to see the whole pic, just click on it).

Food

People + Food = Happy People.

For Deepavali, we had a gathering at the DoReMi apartment (why is it called that?)... we had:

1) Roti
2) Kari
3) Teh tarik

Sayonara

Hey guys, sayonara!!! This might sounds weird.

Anyway, I am not leaving Milwaukee, don't worry. I think I still want to "enjoy" the super cold winter for one more time before I graduate. I just don't have time to update this blog anymore. I need more than 24 hours a day. Sigh.

Yet, I found a good candidate to continue what I did. ShuWei will be in charged in updating this blog from now on. You guys will still get all good information and updates about what we do. I am sure she won't disappoint all of you. *I am posistive that her writings are way better than my 'cacated' writing skills.*

I hope you guys enjoy reading what I have written.

Merdeka Gathering?

Alright, it is the new semester, new academic year. So, MSAMU had its first annual meeting for fall 2008. 4 Malaysian boys: Amir, Azam, Faiz, and Justin have just joined the MSAMU. Welcome to the family. * Alright, this sounds a bit gay; but we really welcome all of you. *

It is unfortunate that Justin can't make it to the meeting.

Anyway, whenever we have gatherings, it is always about food, right? Maybe not. We have planned out a lot more stuff for this semester; if everything goes well, we will participate in the Al's walk, have a Malaysian dessert night, co-organize a Ramadan's dinner with the Muslim Student Assosiation, and other Malaysians' celebrations. Don't ask too many questions now, you all will know when the reports for those events are posted on the blog. Patience is a virtue. Huhu.

Food, we had Steamboat since it is the easiest.

Anyway, we also celebrated Merdeka earlier, 29th of August. Holding Malaysia flag that u stick on the top of your car, everyone smiled for a good picture. *just in case msd wants it; yet it is a very nice group picture*

I was holding the camera. Hehe. And there was one korean american who covered his face with a malaysia flag.

Also, some of us just got together to watch the Harley parade early next morning. Trying to be healthy and in a good shape, some of us played soccer together in the evening.

Paintball @ 8/11

Joining the Malaysians at Madison, we went for paintball. A couple words to describe the event: fun, bruises, fatigue, and muscle pain.

I am very lazy to blog actually... In short, we had fun playing; but someone might not. Owh yea.. SA joined us in this too.

Pictures and some facts:

Venue: Apocalypse Paintball ( about 1.5 hours drive away). Of course we rented a car to get there. Basically, it is in the middle of no where, it is just like a camping ground with a lot of bunkers.

Cost: About 30 to 35 bucks overall. We have a couple coupons for free equipment rental.

Group Picture.

Pictures with new friends. (more pictures will be added later)

SA.
Evidences of playing paintball.

"Think before you want to play paintball." It was really fun, and I recommend this to those who has never done it before. I am definitely up for paintball again.
